Join a NICE webinar or three
19. Feb 2012 We are warming up for the Copenhagen Fashion Summit on 3 May 2012 - the world's largest event on sustainable fashion.
Together with the Nordic Fashion Association and BSR we would like to invite you to participate in the NICE CONSUMER project, which is creating a vision and framework for sustainable consumption of fashion, based on research and dialogue among stakeholders of the fashion industry.
Please hold these dates in your calendar for an upcoming series of webinars that will describe the project and provide an opportunity for sharing insights and discussing how to make sustainable consumption of fashion a reality:
· March 13, 4-5pm CET:
Introducing the NICE CONSUMER Project and the Draft
Framework on Sustainable Consumption of Fashion
· March 20, 4-6pm CET:
The State of the Art in Sustainable Fashion Consumption
· April 3, 4-6pm CET:
Stress-testing the NICE CONSUMER Framework on Sustainable
Consumption of Fashion
Consumers can play a pivotal role in transitioning the fashion industry towards more sustainable business models that significantly reduce the social and environmental impacts of the industry. Key roles for consumers include:
– demanding more sustainable options
– making choices about what to buy and whom to buy from
– improving how they care for garments, and
– making decisions about post-consumption such as responsible
recycling.
If you are interested in participating in a webinar, please RSVP to:niceconsumer@bsr.org
We are also happy to announce the publication of the NICE CONSUMER research report. The final report is available on the BSR website and part of the work on creating a "Framework for Engaging Consumers on the Sustainable Consumption of Fashion"
A few thoughts about the report:
It represents a comprehensive overview of the current state of sustainable consumption initiatives and their implications for the fashion industry.
It frames the topic effectively, while also providing concrete examples of sustainable fashion related consumer actions and behaviors, as well as the roles for government, industry and civil society
It serves to start conversations about a “framework for engaging consumers on the sustainable consumption of fashion” during the consultation process.
The report is currently being communicated through various networks and we encourage you to do the same if possible. Some ideas for how you can communicate about this report:
Send an email to your contact list
Post an update through LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter that links to the report
Print a few copies (on recycled paper!) and bring them with you to events and meetings
You can also attend a workshop:
(These workshops are by invitation only and require pre-registration at the same email as above.)
